{SEARCHING FOR TRUTH IN MOTHERHOOD...}
I’ve come to appreciate my role as a mother so very much. All of the joys as well as the challenges it brings. It has been the defining role of my life. A role that has shaped my character and provided me with the utmost lessons.
A role that I often feel ill equipped to handle and completely in over my head. And, yet a role which has allowed me to identify God's grace and love in my life all the more clearly.
I showed this photo to my lady baby on Mother’s Day. I am at the bottom left surrounded by so many of the women who have been a source of strength on this journey. Clockwise, from the bottom left, my great-grandmother, cousin, mother, grandmother and her sister (my great aunt) in the middle. I’ve watched them walk through so many things in their lives and what I admire so much about each of them is their transparency. Their willingness to share their struggles, their joys, their set-backs as well as their victories has made it incredibly easy for me to share my heart with them.
As a mother it is my desire to raise children with purpose. To raise children to LOVE above all else. To encourage one another, bear each others burdens and comfort one another. To forgive, to care for and rejoice with one another. And, with the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches always fighting for space in our lives (mark 4:19), this task is so much harder than it seems.
Im grateful for their openness and honesty. It has provided me with a clear path in my search for TRUTH IN MOTHERHOOD . Who I am to my children and what I am meant to be isn't muddied by a standard of perfection but instead, grace mercy and love. Their willingness to be transparent with me has pointed me straight to Christ and the truth that I will, in fact, need HIM every step of the way!
I showed this photo to my lady baby on Mother’s Day. I am at the bottom left surrounded by so many of the women who have been a source of strength on this journey. Strength to search for and uncover so many truths in motherhood that I hope to be able to share with her one day. Truths to help her fight the feelings of inadequacy, the battle to be the cool mom, the fit mom, the boss mom, the fashionable mom or the mom who hasn't let herself go!!! Motherhood is about so much more than how I appear to others. For me, it has become a life of "how much of GOD can you see through me!
Im still searching... for truth in motherhood. Ill always be. And, I am grateful for all the women who have made the path to HIM even clearer.
With All the Love,
Syreena
