{ SAVANNAH'S 8TH BIRTHDAY // CELEBRATING MY LITTLE MERMAID... }
as i write my baby girl has been 8 years old for 8 whole days and i’m so excited for her. another year of life with her that’s brought our family so much joy. each year she’s chosen the theme for her birthday and this year was a close call between '“all things london'‘ and “mermaids & unicorns”.

i thought i might take a moment on her 8th day of 8 to share a little more about my girl. not to boast about what a blessing she is but rather to take some time to consider, to remember, to recall even the tiniest of things about my baby girl that i never want to forget leading up until this 8th day of 8.

gosh, she’s special. like special, special. like the special kind of special girl who request to have a handmade/hand sown birthday dress made by her and her nana. something that she can enjoy the memories being made and the magic that followed. my girl made her mermaid birthday dress and the memories to match.

she’s so loyal. her heart is fiery and fierce for the ones she loves. her birthday celebration came just off of her first sleepover with her bestie and let me just say…. if i could bottle up all of the life she brings we’d be forever young.

she’s a lot a bit of this AND a lotta bit of that! she can spend her days and night talking avatar and lego masters with her brothers. playing sword fight, ninja battles and riding bikes. and, the next few being straight up sugar and spice with her girls.
when she saw that there was a mermaid suit just for her… y’all… her face!!!!! of course I was a boy mom first so I had no idea how to work the mono-fin…??? is that what we call it, lol. but thank god for sister friends who can show you the way. when I tell you, the way we all laughed when they helped us figure it out!!!!!!! with as many memories I keep, moments that I am able to capture in photos and videos, the best ones are often missed and I pray they become tucked away and hidden in the deepest parts of my heart and mind to recall when I need them the most.

the way she lives to smile is even more magic. out of the 365 days of this past year all 365 were filled with laughter and only one with tears. and, even her tears were magic. she was upset/scared/afraid for reasons i’ll choose not to mention here but even those moments were magical. sitting with her for hours, walking her through every step and guiding her through her emotions. the fact that nurturing and caring for her heart and mind is my pleasure… a gross understatement!

my goodness she’s here to enjoy life. i’m forever having to check my perspective as her desire to fill the day with places to go, people to see and things to do can feel so overwhelming to any adult life full of responsibilities and limitations. but, she makes faith a non-negotiable and i’m grateful.
we had a mermaid walk contest, assigned everyone special mermaid and pirate names, bedazzled the cutest little water bottles, made mermaid glitter slime, and giggled their hearts out over flips and tricks through the sprinkler. and one things about my vannah girl, she’s gonna always want more moments filled with love and her favorite friends!

memories always make the cut with this girl. just as she requested a handmade dress, she insisted on baking her own birthday cake. strawberry cake with vanilla icing and fresh strawberries on top. it was a HIT!!!!

she couldn’t think of a wish. not even one. I think its because the desires of her heart are so real to her that they always become part of the plan, which she turns into goals and then she gets them done.

she knows what she wants in life and that’s what makes her sparkle. savannah demi, you bless my life. your joy is strength, your words are encouraging, your heart is pure, your gaze is uplifting, your life brings light into mine and i love you so very much.
