{FLA (FAITH & LOVE ACADEMY) // A 2021 RECORD KEEPING WRAP UP PLAN...}
memory keeping and record keeping go hand in hand around here. let’s try and have some fun with the records we keep using a little wrap up with my friieennndddssss….
one of my biggest challenges in having this space is never being sure of how you are receiving the information that i attempt to share. the best way I know how to share is with a little show and tell. so, the plan is to give that a whirl. it should be no secret that we have used our printables to also serve as ‘physical’ records of what we are learning. and, these ‘physical’ printable records have quick turned into ‘digital’ records that i’ve kept in our digital notebooks once we grew closer and closer to 100% paperless unschoolers.
ONLY PROBLEM IS…. i often forget to give our records a general overview from time to time and its made it easy to overlook sharing with all of you. soooooo…. thinking i can try and collect a few examples in somewhat of a wrap-up from time to time and grow from there.
the core printable to my record keeping is our homeschool year review. i actually use this printable to provide a scope and sequence to anything within our year/ starting at any point in the year and this time will be no different. i always begin with an intent & purpose bc everyones homeschool goals and needs are different and records should be kept accordingly.
this time around i would like to provide record of these the following things (unit studies, weekly plans, reading log, book notes, writing, math skill progress) and therefore these printables/records will be given priority…
{HOMESCHOOL UNIT DESIGN BOARD/ PLANNER}
i want to throw in a more focused unit every 8 wks or so. not necessarily to ‘assign’ a study but rather to help me look for the dots and help connect them… pulling them together to create a more focused study (i.e. right now all roads have been leading to a human body, health/nutrition, wellness type of unit study)
i started off doing pretty well keep track of their reads but it is getting a little overwhelming and im finding that it will be really helpful to know exactly which books, in what order, for how long etc. it helps me to identify patterns and encourage good rhythms in their reading individually and as a whole.
while our reading is free and fluid i definitely would like to encourage more thorough/in depth examination of the literature and stories they are reading by requesting a completed book notes report when i feel like their is more to uncover and unwrap to one of their selected stories.
while ive gotten away from printing these out, going back and putting my eyes on them again will be nice for me to look back on all that we've done on a more regular basis… so i am hoping that leaving a little documentation behind for my friendssss will help all parties involved in some way, lol.
soooo, these next couple of years will be our writing years. so, naturally we set pretty exciting writing goals to match. basically, everyone has their own writing project that suits their gifts and their interest and we all have a writing project that we are working towards as well. we preobally won’t use the actual story papers as we have been gravitating towards free hand homemade booklets and typing them up on our devices lately but I guess time shall tell. however, i loved when we used to keep all of their writings on these papers.
{HOMESCHOOL MATH/NUMBER REPORT}
the only ‘subject I will be keeping more of a traditional recording for is math. sure that is no surprise. i’ve shared in a post earlier last month how we use our number report to provide a record of skills we are working on in math and I will couple that information with an assessment tracker to give a more tangible/clear picture as they are progressing in their independent math studies.
{HOMESCHOOL ASSESSMENT TRACKER}
ok, so there you have it. these are the record printables that I will be prioritizing at the moment. my next step is to tally them up and lay them out on my year review, slap a date on it and we’ll be good to go.
would love for you to jump in a play along if you are needing a little accountability and a friennnddd to have a bit more fun in your record keeping. grab a few of the printables based on what you’d like to prioritize, use others or even your own. whatever you do, let’s jump in together.
with all the love,
syreena
