{HOW TO MANAGE BIG IDEAS, FIRST COOKING CLASS IN THE CITY @ HUDSON TABLE PHILLY & BIG PLANS FOR OUR LITTLE CHEF...]

he falls right in the middle. right in between his big brother & little sister. he’s my easy going ambivert that is filled up by time alone & the company of others just the same. his conversational skills are well beyond his years. he’s thoughtful, considerate, kind & that’s just the beginning.

bc of all of these things, he also easily flys under the radar. bc of these things he has a tendency to lay low & undetected if i’m not careful.

i write all of this to say that after hours & hours of accompanying siblings to practice after practice & weekend after weekend full of games/tournaments, this ABSOLUTE FREAKIN’ GEM of a kid got to head off to the city 🏙 for COOKING CLASS w/ his whole family right there to support & cheer him on!

@hudsontablephilly took good care of my little chef and we can’t wait to go back!!!

we have such big plans for our little chef. plans to explore food sourcing, local farming, restaurant tastings, food tours and so much more. we are currently in the middle of production on his very first cooking special/series and the research and development stages of his first cookbook.

breaking down ideas and projects into executable steps and pieces is something thats a collaborative effort around here and these are the steps that we take to manage our BIG IDEAS…

brainstorm- getting pen to paper, or Apple Pencil to iPad … taking time (but not too much time) to write out whatever comes to mind is the first step we take in visualizing a big idea in a more tangible way. brainstorming make it possible for us to work together as a team, no matter whose big project or idea it starts out belonging to, we all have something that we can add to give the project life.

set a realistic date of completion- this one has always been a challenge for me but so necessary. a completion date gives us a benchmark that we can divide into pieces that will make our projects more manageable.

make a list- categorizing the items that we’ve established when brainstorming will help us to define the like items that can be accomplished along with like tasks.

prioritize- assessing our list and determining which task lists should come before another will provide a road map for getting us from point a to destination z.

set more target dates- adding dates to the lists that we’ve prioritized sets us up to succeed one step at a time.

execute & document- get to work! and keep memories along the way. take videos, photos, journal feelings and frustrations as well as delightful moments along the way.

check in often- SO IMPORTANT! regular check ins make sure that we don’t fall too far behind or get stuck and make it much easier to identify when pivoting is necessary.

celebrate milestones- why not?!!??!

when we follow these steps our big ideas unfold in a much more pleasant way. we are able to manage our projects and avoid frustrations and pitfalls that so easily cause a ‘big idea’ to fade away. all good things and I cant wait for all of the confidence that will grow as a result of our creativity and imaginative unschooling ways, lol.

with all the love,

Syreena
